DuPont Electronics & Industrial and Kempur Microelectronics, Inc. announced a collaboration program to supply materials for microlithography in China. The collaboration will leverage the strengths of both DuPont and Kempur to address industry needs for advanced photoresists and other lithographic materials.
As reported in SEMI’s quarterly World Fab Forecast Report, chipmakers in China have announced eight new fabs starting construction by 2022. These new fabs will accelerate the country’s domestic semiconductor industry and drive increased needs for materials and local support in the years to come. DuPont and Kempur’s collaboration will enable Kempur to quickly supply a wide range of lithographic materials to support customer growth.
“Kempur is a strong partner for DuPont in China, with a talented team, valued customer relationships and a reputation for quality and customer intimacy that aligns with our own business values,” said George Barclay, Global Business Director, Litho Technologies. “We’re pleased to be able to support the local market through this new collaboration and we look forward to new opportunities opening as a result.”
“China's photoresist market is in a period of rapid development, and Kempur Microelectronics needs a world-class partner like DuPont to effectively keep pace," said Cindy Chen, CEO of Kempur Microelectronics. "Compared with DuPont's long history, Kempur is still a very young company. We hope to work with DuPont to continuously innovate, focus on challenges and promote the development of the industry."
DuPont is a leading global supplier in materials for semiconductor fabrication, with a diverse array of established products for lithography at multiple wavelengths, including 193nm (ArF), 248nm (KrF) and i/g-line photoresists, as well as spin-on carbon (SOC), antireflective coating materials (BARCs), advanced overcoats and ancillaries.
Kempur was established in 2004 and today is one of the biggest photoresist manufacturers in China. Kempur’s portfolio includes photoresists and other supporting materials for integrated circuit fabrication, as well as resists used in the fabrication of light-emitting diodes (LED) and other applications.

Global Sourcing Spotlight: Don’t Be Afraid of Global Sourcing
04/03/2024 | Bob Duke -- Column: Global Sourcing SpotlightOn paper, it doesn’t seem like a great time for global sourcing. With several world conflicts, it may seem impossible to think that something like global sourcing and commercial trade between countries could begin to alleviate this tension between warring countries. But hey, I’ve always been a glass-half-full guy, so humor me. While trade between countries can indeed foster cooperation and contribute to peace in several ways, it's essential to recognize that it's not a panacea for all global issues. However, here are some ways in which trade can contribute to peace and global stability.
